I was scrolling through my WordPress drafts today and found this post from February 2nd that I never published. I like to go back to these types of posts at the end of each year and see what I thought of the books I was excited to read–so I thought I’d go ahead and hit publish on this one so I can do that later next month! I can say, I’ve read the majority of these by now and they’re all excellent, so maybe this post will give you some Christmas gift ideas for your bookworm friends 🙂
First up are the books that I was extremely excited for and counted down the days until they released!
Seeing Voices, Olivia Smit (release date: April 15th)
Olivia is such an awesome friend, and I absolutely can’t wait to read her novel!
A Heart So Fierce and Broken, Brigid Kemmerer (release date: January 7th)
I have this on hold at my library right now and I’m just waiting for it to come in. Looking forward to it!
Unravel the Dusk, Elizabeth Lim (release date: July 7th)
Y’all, I am SO FREAKING EXCITED for this book. I literally can’t wait. Spin the Dawn was so good and the sequel is going to be even better.
Set Fire to the Gods, Sara Raasch and Kristen Simmons (release date: August 4th)
This author combo seems like the perfect duo and I’ve loved seeing their behind-the-scenes Instagram posts about working on this book!
Scammed, Kristen Simmons (release date: February 4th)
Conveniently, the new Deceivers book always comes out around the time of my birthday. I’m super excited to see what happens in this one (but I’m super not a fan of these new covers, sorry).
This Too Shall Last, K.J. Ramsey (release date: May 12th)
I’ve already pre-ordered this, and I can’t wait! K.J.’s sessions at Diamonds 2020 were awesome, so I know her book will be amazing too–and I absolutely love the title.
Finally, here are a few books that I will most likely read, but am not quite as over-the-moon excited about–many of them are by authors I haven’t read before, so it’ll be a totally new experience:
- Rule of Wolves, Leigh Bardugo
- Imagine Me, Tahereh Mafi
- Woven in Moonlight, Isabel Ibanez
- The Stars We Steal, Alexa Donne
- Time of Our Lives, Austin Siegemund-Broka and Emily Wibberly
- The Other Side of the Sky, Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
- The Queen’s Assassin, Melissa de la Cruz (this is the only book on this list that I’ve read and didn’t like, just an fyi for your Christmas shopping needs)
- The Kingdom of Back, Marie Lu (okay I forgot about this one and it looks SO GOOD?! I need it asap)
- The Gilded Ones, Namina Forna
So, now that the year is almost over, haha, there are the books I was looking forward to reading in 2020! Were there any 2020 releases you were particularly excited about? Have you read any of these? Let me know in the comments!
